Importing files
You can import some accounts into My Checkbook. The following account types can be imported. When these files are imported, they are imported as new accounts. There is currently no way to import data into an existing account. If this is something you need, you can contact support and let us know that this would be useful to you.
My Checkbook 2.x Files
These files usually end in a ".mcb" file extension. Sometimes this file extension may be hidden by the operating system. It is important that My Checkbook 2.x files do have the .mcb file extension. If they don't (which can sometimes be the case on the Mac OS), it is important that you do add the file extension otherwise My Checkbook 3.5.5 will not recognize it.

My Checkbook 3.2.x Files
These files end with a ".mcbd" file extension and were created by version 3.0 through 3.2. Also, there was a pre-release version of 3.3 which also used these files. These files can be directly imported into My Checkbook 3.5.5.

Some QIF Files
Some QIF files (ending in the ".qif" file extension) are provided by other finance software and financial institutions. My Checkbook 3.5.5 can import QIF files that contain a single bank account. These files can vary from vendor to vendor, so we always recommend trying this import before you decide to purchase if this type of file is mandatory for your use.

Unsupported Files
It is very important to know that My Checkbook cannot import the files that it also exports. The export option is provided to allow you to take your data to other applications like spreadsheets, or other text-processing needs. My Checkbook cannot re-import files that it exports. It is not recommended to export your data for backup purposes because My Checkbook cannot re-import these files. For backup, it is better to keep copies of the actual data files that My Checkbook uses.
